RTO needs to act as it has all the powers against errant Autos
Every time ones peaks about the Auto rickshaws of Belagavi, it has to be negative barring stray incidents once in a year or so which have a positive vibe.
On April 17,2017 Deputy Commissioner took to task RTO and Police for non implementation of Auto Meters; but ground reality nothing has changed.
Infact the Auto Cracy is now so much that dont even care about such meetings and their outcomes.
But the biggest hurdle in the implementation of Auto fares is the AUTHORITY & POWER vests with the RTO and the Traffic police have the power to fine only a maximum of Rs.100 per occasion.
Cancel ling the permit, seizure of the Autos, levying fine by producing in court all such power vest with the RTO and not the Traffic police, hence they have their hands tied up.
And as the RTO is least bothered to get this implemented, the actions taken by the Police do not have any impact on the situation as such.
If the Autos have to charge by meters RTO is the authority to come forward and implement it with the help of the Traffic police.
The THREE monuments built by the RTO, Pre paid auto counters at Nehru nagar, Railway station and Bus stand in the coming future could be handed over to the Archaeological survey of India, so that it can be preserved for the newer generations.
The DC has given a time of one month thats upto May 17, 2017 Lets see if the RTO act this time atleast or will this also be a failure as always.
