Speaking at Belagavi at Malini city while launching multiple development initiatives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Baburao Pusalkar 100 years ago started Startup culture in Belagavi.

Karnataka is known as a startup hub now, but 100 years ago, Baburao Pusalkar from Belagavi started this Startup culture with his garage in Camp and then Belgaum Electro Motors Company .

Over a century ago, BabuRao Pusalkar, an ambitious entrepreneur, established a small unit in Belagavi city; since then, it has become a hub for foundries and hydraulics units. Now, the city proudly boasts a large number of crankshaft, industrial castings and forging, machinery, hydraulics, and aluminium manufacturing units.

About Baburao Pusalkar

Despite not being well-educated, he began his career as a truck cleaner and eventually purchased two buses of his own. He then added two more trucks. During the Second World War, when fuel was scarce, he was wiped out and had to leave Bijapur for Belgaum, where he started a garage in Camp.

After the war, there was a huge shortage of essential items, so he adapted and began manufacturing flour mills, becoming India’s best chakki maker. The railways then approached him to make jacks, and within a year, BEMCO had become India’s number one jack-making company. He later ventured into hydraulics and became a pioneer in Belagavi.

In 1959, Baburao Pusalkar in Germany arranged a collaboration with Vogel & Co. for him, for the manufacture of hydraulic presses – the first of its kind in India.

These units have recently begun to receive substantial orders from the shipping, defence, and space industries.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that the incomparable love and blessings of the people of Belagavi inspire the government to work for the welfare of the people and become a source of strength. “Coming to Belgavi is no less than a pilgrimage”, the Prime Minister said as he highlighted that it is the land of Queen Chennamma of Kittur and revolutionary Krantiveer Sangolli Rayanna who are remembered even today for raising their voice against the colonial rule.

The Prime Minister highlighted the contributions of Belagavi and said that it finds a place in the fight for today and the reemergence of India. Drawing an analogy to the startup culture of Karnataka, the Prime Minister said that Belagavi was home to startups hundred years ago and gave the example of Baburao Pusalkar who established a unit that turned Belagavi into a base for various industries. The Prime Minister emphasized that the double-engine government wants to further strengthen this role of Belagavi in the present decade.

Throwing light on the projects whose foundation stones are laid and those that are inaugurated today, the Prime Minister said that it will bring in new energy and pace in the development of Belagavi. He congratulated the citizens of this region for projects worth hundreds of crores associated with connectivity and water facilities. Through Belagavi, the Prime Minister said that every farmer in the nation has received a special gift where another tranche of funds from PM-KISAN was released. “Just by the click of a button, 16,000 crore rupees have been transferred to the bank accounts of crores of farmers in the country”, the Prime Minister remarked. He said that such a huge amount transferred without the involvement of a middleman has also drawn the attention of people from across the world. Drawing comparisons to the Congress regime, the Prime Minister recalled that the then Prime Minister said that only 15 paise reaches the poor when 1 rupee is transferred. “But this is Modi ki Sarkar”, the Prime Minister interjected, “Every penny belongs to you and it is for you.” The Prime Minister also wished a very prosperous Holi to all the farmers of India and said that they have received a special gift before Holi.

The Prime Minister said that today’s changing India is accomplishing development projects one after the other while giving priority to the deprived and mentioned that small farmers are a priority for the current government. He informed that till now 2.5 lakh crore rupees have been deposited in the accounts of the small farmers via PM KISAN Samman Nidhi out of which more than 50 thousand crores were deposited in the accounts of women farmers. This money, the Prime Minister said, is taking care of the small but critical needs of the farmers.

The Prime Minister reiterated that the agricultural budget of the country which was 25,000 crores before 2014 has now been increased to 1,25,000 crores which is a five-time increase. He said that it is proof of the BJP government’s commitment to supporting the farmers of the country. The Prime Minister emphasized the use of technology which is directly benefiting the farmers and gave the example of Jan Dhan bank accounts, mobile connections and aadhar. He underlined that the government is connecting farmers to Kisan Credit Cards with the objective that the farmers can avail of the support of banks at any required step.

The Prime Minister emphasized that this year’s Budget addresses the future needs of agriculture along with the current concerns. He said today’s need is for storage and reducing the costs in farming, organizing small farmers. That is why this Budget emphasizes storage facilities and focuses on cooperatives. Similarly, focusing on natural farming will reduce the costs for the farmer. He said measures like the PM PRANAM scheme will further reduce the expenses on fertilizers.

“The Government is focussed on strengthening the agricultural sector of India while analyzing the challenges of the future”, the Prime Minister remarked. Highlighting the challenge of climate change, the Prime Minister stressed reviving the traditional strength of coarse grains or millets and informed that these food grains have the capability to withstand any climate. Referring to this year’s budget, the Prime Minister highlighted that coarse grains have a new found identity as Shri Anna. He added that Karnataka has been the main center of millets where Shri Anna was popularly known as Shri Dhanya and different kinds of Shri Anna are cultivated by the farmers of the region. The Prime Minister recalled the significant campaign run by the then BS Yeddyurappa government to promote Shri Anna and said that we now have to present it to the world. Listing out the benefits of Shri Anna, the Prime Minister said that it requires less effort as well as less water while it doubles the benefits for farmers.

The Prime Minister spoke at length about the needs of sugarcane farmers as Karnataka is a major sugarcane state. He mentioned this year’s Budget provision providing rebate on tax on cooperative sugarcane payment of the amount payable before 2016-17 which will give relief to the sugar cooperative to the tune of 10 thousand crores. Speaking about the government’s push for ethanol blending, the Prime Minister informed that the production of ethanol is helping in increasing the income of sugarcane farmers. He informed that ethanol blending in petrol has increased from 1.5 percent to 10 percent in the last 9 years and the government is already targeting 20 percent ethanol blending in petrol.

The Prime Minister remarked that agriculture, industry, tourism and education are strengthened only with better connectivity. He informed that in the five years prior to 2014, the total budget of the Railways in Karnataka was Rs 4,000 crore whereas this year, 7,500 crore rupees have been allocated for the railways in Karnataka. He noted that work is underway in Karnataka on railway projects worth about 45 thousand crore rupees today. He also referred to the newly inaugurated modern railway station in Belagavi and said that it is not just the facilities that get a boost but the faith in the railways is also increasing. “Many stations in Karnataka are being brought to the fore in such a modern avatar”, he said. The Prime Minister mentioned that the doubling of the Londa-Ghatprabha line will make the journey faster and safer. Noting that Belagavi is an important hub for education, tourism and healthcare, the Prime Minister said that the improved railway connectivity will give a boost to these sectors.

“The double-engine government is a guarantee for fast-paced development”, the Prime Minister said. Giving the example of Jal Jeevan Mission, the Prime Minister informed that only 25 percent of households in Karnataka’s villages had piped water connections before 2019 whereas the coverage has expanded to 60 percent today. In Belagavi too, the Prime Minister said that less than 2 lakh houses used to get tap water but this number has crossed 4.5 lakhs today. He said that 60,000 crore rupees have been allocated in this budget for this.

“The government is engaged in empowering every small section of the society which was neglected by the previous governments”, the Prime Minister remarked. Noting that Belagavi has been a city of artisans and handicrafts men famous as Venugram i.e. bamboo village, the Prime Minister recalled how previous governments had banned the harvesting of bamboo for a long time but it is the present government that reformed the law and opened the way for bamboo cultivation and trade. He also touched upon the PM Vishwakarma Yojana that was introduced for the first time in this year’s budget to support artisans and handicrafts men.

The Prime Minister pointed out the Congress government’s abomination for Karnataka where disrespecting the leaders of Karnataka became a tradition. “History is proof of how leaders like S Nijalingappa and Virendra Patil ji were insulted before the Congress family”, the Prime Minister remarked. Speaking about his adoration and respect for Mallikarjun Kharge ji and his devotion to public service, the Prime Minister expressed sadness at how the most senior member was not even considered worthy of being given an umbrella in the scorching sun at a Congress function in Chhattisgarh. “Kharge ji is the Congress President, but the entire world knows who holds the remote control by the way he is treated”, the Prime Minister interjected. Shri Modi pointed out that many political parties in the country are plagued by ‘parivarvaad’ (nepotism) and stressed the need to free the country from its clutches. He also warned the people of Karnataka to stay alert from parties like Congress.

Concluding the address, the Prime Minister said, “True development takes place when work is carried out with true intentions.” He highlighted the true intentions of the double-engine government and its commitment to development. “To speed up the development of Karnataka and the country, we have to move ahead with Sabka Prayas”, the Prime Minister concluded.

Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri Basvaraj Bommai, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ms Shobha Karandlaje and Ministers from Government of Karnataka were present on the occasion among others.

Background

In a step that will showcase yet another example of the commitment of the Prime Minister towards the welfare of farmers, the 13th installment amount of about Rs. 16,000 crores under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) was released through direct benefits transfer to more than 8 crore beneficiaries. Under the scheme, eligible farmer families are provided with a benefit of Rs. 6000 per year in three equal installments of Rs. 2000 each.

During the Programme, the Prime Minister dedicated the redeveloped Belagavi Railway Station building to the nation. This Railway Station is redeveloped at an approximate cost of about Rs 190 Crore to provide world-class amenities to the passengers. Another railway project that will be dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister is the rail line doubling project between Londa-Belagavi-Ghataprabha section at Belagavi. This project, developed at the cost of about Rs 930 Crores, will enhance line capacity along the busy Mumbai – Pune – Hubballi – Bengaluru railway line, promoting trade, commerce and economic activities in the region.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of six multi-village scheme projects under Jal Jeevan Mission in Belagavi, which will be developed at a cumulative cost of about Rs 1585 crore and will benefit about 8.8 lakh population of more than 315 villages.

After a long and arduous legal battle, the two accused in the infamous OFC (Optical Fiber Cable) cutting case in Belgaum have finally been convicted and ordered to serve imprisonment. The case, which was first reported in 2017, involved the illegal cutting of OFC cables belonging to FAAST Broadband by the two accused.

According to reports, the accused (Santosh Ashtekar and Shankar Gaur) were caught red-handed by the CEO himself while cutting the cables, and were immediately taken into custody by the police. However, it was not until seven years later that the case finally came to a conclusion, with the accused being found guilty of their crimes.

The case was closely followed by the CEO of FAAST Broadband, Mr. Ajit Patil, who had filed the original complaint against the accused back in 2016. Mr. Patil had been tirelessly pursuing the case for the past six years, working closely with law enforcement officials, legal experts and attending the hearings himself to ensure that justice was served.

In a statement released to the press, Mr. Patil expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the case, stating that it was a victory not just for FAAST Broadband, but for all companies and individuals who rely on OFC cables for their business and personal needs.

“This case sends a strong message to anyone who thinks they can get away with cutting OFC cables illegally,” said Mr. Patil. “We will not stand idly by and watch as our infrastructure is damaged and our customers are left without service. We will continue to work closely with law enforcement officials to ensure that those who break the law are held accountable for their actions.”

The conviction of the two accused in this case is a testament to the power of perseverance and determination in the face of adversity. It is also a reminder of the importance of upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of individuals and businesses alike.

Less Invasive, More Effective: Key Hole Heart Surgery – Dr. Ravi Ghatnatti

$

dr-ravi-ghatnatti

Dr. Ravi Ghatnatti, a young promising Cardiac Surgeon is on study leave from KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital, Belagavi is pursuing Master’s in Minimum Invasive Cardiac Surgery (Key Hole surgery) & Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery from Blackpool Victoria Teaching Hospitals NHS foundation trust, Blackpool, Lancashire, United Kingdom.

Dr. Ravi is of the firm opinion that, keyhole heart surgery is futuristic and can easily replace a large number of routine open-heart surgery procedures. Minimum Invasive Cardiac Surgery (MICS) techniques cause less pain and early recovery after the operation.

In his interaction with All About Belgaum, he spoke about the scope, technicalities & benefits/risks of the MICS procedure.

What is minimally invasive heart surgery?
Keyhole (also known as minimally invasive cardiac surgery) surgery is a term for heart procedures performed through one or more small cuts (incisions). In contrast, open-heart surgeries typically use one long incision down the front of your chest.
In MICS procedure, Surgeons insert small, high-powered cameras, tools, or robotic arms through the incisions. The surgeon guides the tools between your ribs to access your heart. Keyhole techniques may offer less scarring, reduced pain, and faster healing than open-heart surgeries. Open-heart surgeries typically involve cutting through your breastbone (sternum) to reach your heart.

dr ravi ghatnatti

Which type of heart surgeries could be performed through MICS?
The following surgeries could be done through MICS technique:
• Coronary artery bypass surgery
• Aortic valve replacement
• Mitral valve repair or replacement
• Atrial septal defect and patent foramen ovale closure
• Saphenous vein harvest for coronary artery bypass surgery
• Tricuspid valve repair or replacement

What are the benefits?
The potential benefits of keyhole heart surgery when compared with open-heart surgery can include the:
• Less blood loss
• Lower risk of infection
• Reduced trauma and pain
• Shorter time in the hospital, faster recovery, and quicker return to normal activities
• Smaller, less noticeable scars

In brief can you explain technicalities of MICS?
• Make one or more small incisions on the side of your chest.
• Insert small surgical tools or robotic arms through the incisions.
• Guide the tools between your ribs to reach your heart.
• Repair holes in the heart, bypass the blocked arteries, replace a heart valve, place a device, or remove tumors.
• Close the incisions with stitches.

How long does keyhole heart surgery take?
Keyhole heart surgery usually takes approximately four hours.

What happens after keyhole heart surgery?
A patient will be in ICU for 2-3 days in the intensive care unit (ICU) after keyhole heart surgery. Further, 3-4 days in the
ward/room. A Physiotherapist will make the patient perform breathing exercises, and make the patient walk, a dietician will help to improve the nutrition levels. Usually, a patient will be discharged from the hospital on the 7th day.

How long does it take to recover from keyhole heart surgery?
Most people return to their usual activities within two to four weeks. You’ll need to avoid heavy lifting, strenuous exercise, driving for few weeks.
Patient is advised to perform regular exercise in their homes and adopt to healthy balanced diet.

Can all heart surgeries be done through Key Hole?
• Keyhole heart surgery isn’t the surgical option for all cases. Your doctor will decide by considering various parameters whether one is fit for MICS or not.
• To determine whether Keyhole heart surgery is the best option, your doctor will likely review your medical history and order tests to get more information about your heart health.
• Keyhole heart surgery is a complex surgical procedure that requires training and experience. This can be offered in a medical center with surgeons and a surgical team who have the needed expertise in performing keyhole procedures.
• Keyhole heart surgery can involve risks similar to open-heart surgery, such as:
• Bleeding
• Stroke
• Infection
• Irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias)
• In rare cases there could be Death
• Also, keyhole surgery may need to be changed to open-heart surgery, if your surgeon thinks it’s unsafe to continue with the keyhole approach.

Revenue Minister R. Ashoka announced that soon, all types of registrations, including property registration, can be completed with the click of a mouse. After the successful trial of the web-based Kaveri-2.0 software, the facility will be made available at all Sub-Registrar Offices across the State in three months, making the property registration process more efficient and convenient for citizens.

Currently, the software is undergoing a dry run in all offices. It was first tested at the Chincholi and Belagavi South Sub-Registrar Offices and it took only seven to ten minutes for the registration process to be completed.

Once the dry run is finished, the Government plans to introduce the new system in Ramanagara, Belagavi, Mandya, and Mangaluru, before expanding the system to the rest of the State. This will revolutionize the property registration process, making it easier and faster for citizens to complete their registrations.

The Department of Stamps and Registration has developed a new software, Kaveri 2.0, in association with the Centre for Smart Governance, to prevent multiple registrations of the same property and other fraudulent transactions. This relieves the public of the ordeal of waiting at the Sub-registrar’s Offices for hours or depending on touts. The software is designed to automatically calculate the fees to be paid by the buyer, eliminating the role of brokers and touts.

Citizens can upload documents of a property requiring registration and pay stamp duty and other fees online. After that, they can select a convenient date and time to visit the Sub-registrar’s Office of their choice to provide biometric details such as signature, photographs and thumb impression to complete the registration process, similar to the passport application system. After successful registration, property documents will be sent to the Digilockers of the buyers, who will also receive regular updates via SMS. Property details will automatically get updated in the Khatas (auto-mutation process).

To put an end to property buyers being duped by conmen, the Government is integrating various e-Governance initiatives such as Bhoomi, e-Swathu, e-Aasthi, Khajane-II, FRUITS and Sakala. This will ensure that documents including ‘khatha’, ‘pahani’ (RTC of the land) and survey number are made available at Sub-Registrar’s Offices, and the signed documents will go to the owner’s Digilocker.

On Sunday morning, a grand ceremony was held at Rajhunsgad fort in Belagavi rural constituency to unveil the 50-foot-tall statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Yuvaraj Sambhajiraje Chatrapati, the 13th descendant of Shivaji Maharaj, Congress MLA from Latur Dheeraj Deshmukh, and Kolhapur MLA Satej Patil alias Bunty.

The unveiling was preceded by a palanquin procession and flag hoisting, accompanied by the sounds of dhols and Tasha.

The inauguration of the statue was marred by political battles between BJP leaders in the region and Belagavi Rural MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar of Congress, who are vying for credit for the event.

Despite the controversy, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai inaugurated the statue of Shivaji Maharaj on March 2. Hebbalkar, who has been instrumental in getting the historic fort developed and installing the mammoth statue, was determined to hold a grand ceremony to commemorate the occasion.

About the Rajhansgad Fort –

The Yellur Fort was originally constructed by the Rattas, an ancient dynasty of the Deccan region, and later renovated in stone by Asad Khan Lari of Bijapur. It served as an outpost of the Belagavi Fort, providing a strategic vantage point to spot and prevent enemies from the Goa and Karwar areas. Throughout its history, the fort has been controlled by many rulers, and has withstood three wars: the first between the Nawabs of Savanoor and the Peshwas, the second between the forces of Tipu Sultan and the Peshwas, and the third between the officials of the Bhimgad Fort and the Rajhunsgad forces. During the British rule, the fort was garrisoned with around 100 soldiers for its protection.

The many colors of Belagavi’s Holi

Few countries in the world celebrate a festival with as much fervor across the country as Holi is in India. And to make things special, Belagavi is one city which celebrates it not once but twice, in a matter of a week.

Belagavi’s Holi is special mainly because of its geographic demarcation. While ‘Belagavi’ celebrates it the day after Holi, the areas coming under the erstwhile Sangli presidency, ie. Shahapur, Vadgaon, and Angol celebrate it on the fifth day, ie. The Rang Panchami day. This makes matters curious.

On one hand, kids and the youth experience double the joy, but the common folk and the women face problems on both days for they cannot move out. You have known many households where the school-going kids and the working men have left home early to cross the ‘border’ and move to the other side on respective days!

It all sounds funny now, but we have had exams, even SSLC ones, on days when it was played in Shahapur-Vadgaon-Angol. Belagavi’s Holi fever begins days in advance when Ganpat Galli, Shahapur Khade Bazar, and Kirloskar road see road-side shops displaying ‘Pichkaari’ masks, small balloons, colors- dry and water-based, weird wigs, drag costumes and other paraphernalia associated with playing with colors. Kids duly purchase new pichkaaris every year.

Of late, a lot of awareness has been created about not wasting water and hence many prefer dry colors. Gone are the days when ‘saree colors’ or ‘Khadi color was the norm, especially in Shahapur-Vadgaon where many saree factories were located and this color was easily accessible.

Come D-day and you’d wake up with crackles of laughter from kids and loud sounds of bikes zooming on the roads. Every youth turns a macho man behind the anonymity of color smeared on his face. Riding triple seat, throwing balloons at unsuspecting people on the roads and shouting loudly is the staple of the day. Deshmukh road, RPD cross has seen scenes of hundreds of shirts being hung on overhead electricity wires, clothes stripped from bikers as they pass by. However, this trend has somehow died down of late. If men are on the streets, women are not far behind. Knocking on doors and pulling friends out, they enjoy in their very own way.

The new trend of having public Holi celebrations has helped aggregate people in one place with music to boot. The police also clamp down on the festivities after 1.00 p.m. enabling many office-goers to move freely post-lunch.

There are places in India where Holi is played for days together. One day or many, Holi brings joy and leaves memories behind. Stains notwithstanding.

Belagavi is abuzz with anticipation as the Holi season approaches and the small temples of Holi Kamanna, located in various narrow alleyways and even the large one sharing a wall with Shivaji Garden, receive a fresh coat of white paint.

One can be amazed at the precision and diversity of the rhythms they produce from this small percussion instrument! They travel around residential and commercial areas and collect donations for the burning of the Kamanna effigy. Some truly amusing expletives from these children are the key to unlocking their wallets!

People mark today by gathering around a bonfire to pray and carry out Holika Dahan rituals. The custom is related to Hiranyakashipu’s son Prahalad, a devotee of Lord Vishnu, and his demoness aunt, Holika. The festival of Holika Dahan is celebrated every year on the day of Phalgun Purnima as a symbol of the victory of good over evil.

Holi day is marked by the crescendo of time drums, and by evening, the ritual of burning a stack of wood and dried tree branches, symbolizing evil, is complete.

People offer puran poli, a traditional delicacy for this festival, to the fire as an offering to appease the fire Gods. Traditionally made from flour, horse gram, and jaggery, it is now often prepared with tur dal and sugar for ease.

At places like the Balaji Temple in Shahapur, this ritual is carried out in the morning and the embers burn for more than a day, signifying the triumph of good over evil.

Belagavi city is currently facing a severe water scarcity issue, and the Cantonment Board is entirely responsible for it. In the meeting of the Municipal Corporation, MLA Abhay Patil suggested that the water supply and collection of waste disposal of the Cantonment Board should be shut down to address the problem.

During the budget discussion meeting held on Monday, some corporators expressed their concerns about the water supply in the city.

MLA Abhay Patil assured them that the government is working on a war footing to ensure proper water supply to the city. However, the Cantonment Board’s obstinate stance while laying the water pipe from the Cantonment area is becoming a significant problem for the city’s water supply.

Despite the Belagavi City Corporation’s efforts to provide all kinds of assistance to the Cantonment, the Cantonment Board’s role is becoming a problem for the Municipal Corporation. For the last eight months, the Cantonment Board has not given permission for laying water pipes, affecting the city’s water supply. Citizens are facing a severe water shortage, and the City Corporation is yet to receive four crore rupees from the Cantonment Board.

The municipality is also working on waste disposal in the Cantonment area, but the Cantonment Board is not giving permission for laying water pipes. MLA Abhay Patil suggested that the Corporation should immediately stop the water supply to the Cantonment to address the issue.

In conclusion, MLA Abhay Patil’s suggestion to shut down the Cantonment Board’s water supply and waste disposal system is a practical solution to address the water scarcity issue in Belagavi. The Municipal Corporation should take immediate action to ensure that citizens receive adequate water supply and waste disposal services.

The flight may be yours, but she rules the sky – Richa Goswami

From working in the defense services to being in the driver’s seat of fighter jets, we have seen women enter every damn field which once was handled only by men. Today women have entered yet another challenging field of handling air traffic and perhaps for the first time in Belagavi, a woman has the radio in her hands.

Meet Richa Goswami working as ATC (Air Traffic Controller) Manager at Sambra Airport, Belagavi. She has done her Btech in Electronics and Communication and was earlier posted at the country’s second busiest IGI Airport Delhi where the air traffic movement is 1500 to 1600 per day or 300 to 500 every hour. Richa says that the job needs 100% concentration and 0% error as it involves the lives of people on board the flight. It is a very challenging job but exciting at the same time.

The working shifts keep on changing and you need to adjust your body accordingly. Decisions have to be taken in a fraction of a second owing to a lot of mental stress. Testing times are during VIP visits, bad weather, high fog and high pollution where many flights get diverted or delayed.

richa

As per the Airports Authority of India (AAI) there are 3692 Air Traffic Controllers in India as on 31 January 2023 out of which less than 10% are females. The ATC is a government job and is governed by the Airports Authority of India. The AAI is a public sector enterprise under the ownership of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India. The Air Traffic Controller manages the flow of aircraft into and out of the airport airspace, guides pilots during takeoff and landing, and monitors aircraft as they travel through the skies.

Richa is happy not just to work as an ATC but also to be an inspiration to many other women to take up challenging jobs. If your flight was ever diverted at the last moment due to bad weather or fog, thanks to Richa and all the other Air Traffic Controllers who have saved many lives by taking the right decision in quick time. So, if you are traveling in any airways, remember, the flight may be yours, but Richa rules the skies.

A tragic incident occurred at the Belagavi DC office premises when a woman, identified as Saraswati, attempted suicide along with her three young daughters by consuming pesticide. The good news is that all four are now safe and out of danger, thanks to the quick response of the DC office staff who immediately shifted them to the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) hospital after they started vomiting.

According to sources, Saraswati’s husband, Adrushyappa, has been absconding for the past two weeks following the torture of money lenders, as he has taken huge loans from them. Adrushyappa used to work in a hair-cutting salon, and after his disappearance, the family started struggling to make ends meet. With no other option left, Saraswati visited the DC office on Wednesday to seek help. However, after a long wait, mentally exhausted Saraswati took an extreme step.

Within a short while, the girls started feeling uncomfortable and began to vomit. The DC office staff acted swiftly and shifted them to the BIMS hospital, where they received timely medical attention.
