LKG/Nursery admission process to start from March 20 in Belgaum
LKG/Nursery admission process to start from March 20 in Belgaum
If you are parent of a child aged between 2 years 10 months and less than 4 years 10 months as on June 1, 2014 then you all need to go through this, if you want to admit your child into a school run as per the state syllabus. Admission dates for ICSE and CBSE are different.
Now this is the most important criteria, even if the age of the child is less or more by a single day you do not qualify for the Junior KG(LKG) admissions in this case.
If you are looking for Nursery admissions you should look for 2 years 10 months and less than 3 years 10 months as the age of the child.
For LKG the child must have completed 3 years 10 moths as of 1, June 2014.
The process would commence from March 20 to 22, 2014 for Forms distribution. Each school can have a different date hence please visit all the schools to get the exact dates.
Kindly go and check with the school you want your child to be admitted. All schools must have put a notice regarding the same now.
Checklist for parents:
Now that you have found your child to be in the above age slot now what else needs to be done.
Original birth certificate is needed to be submitted to the school if your child is admitted and many photo copies will be required at each of the schools as they check the birth certificate mandatorily before giving the forms (Original is also required for verification along with photocopy). If you don’t have one, you still have time to get it done.
Now the question where do we get it from, the local health office of the area in which hospital the child was born. For Example: all those born in hospitals of Chidambar nagar, Vadgaon will have to go to the primary health center of Vadgaon. Birth certificates are issued up to 1 year from there and later on from the City corporation office.
Now that you have got hold of the birth certificate get a few ID card photos of your child and also a family photo to be put on the forms, not all schools ask but now a day’s normally all ask for it, so photos must be kept ready.
Keep visiting the schools from now on and keep asking about when the admission process begins.
Understanding the Process:
The admission process is somewhat similar in all schools. You are given forms on particular days, then you fill them up and submit in a time limit and then you are called in for an interaction of your child and also you. If you are lucky to get a seat in the first list go party if not then go and fall at the feet of someone something will cook for sure.
Those long queues in the night outside the same school we studied, this time for only a form. Normally all will get forms as they print in thousands it’s only that you should be there on time.
Also keep a few thousands ready as you may need to pay development charges, Not All schools take this but it is always better to be ready instead of last minute running around.
Apply in all schools, if you are looking for English medium, then all English medium schools, when we mean all, we mean ALL.
Also see the previous year’s post which will help you understand the process much better.
Beggars cannot be choosers:LKG admissions

QuEST Global Manufacturing is Now Aequs
QuEST Global Manufacturing is Now Aequs
Hattargi/Belgaum:
New identity, same people, a sharper focus on manufacturing
QuEST Global Manufacturing and QuEST Global SEZ are being rebranded as Aequs (pronounced a-cus).
The Aequs brand was unveiled at an event in Belgaum by Dr Klaus Richter, Executive Vice President – Procurement, Airbus Group. Airbus is an Aequs customer and sources aircraft parts and sub-assemblies directly and indirectly from the company’s Belgaum facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Richter said: “Airbus has been working with QuEST Manufacturing for many years. We look forward to continuing and growing the association with Aequs as their capacity and ecosystem expands even as the Airbus procurement activity in India is increasing both in volume and complexity.”
Aequs is derived from “aequus”, Latin for “equal”. It reflects the company’s approach of collaborating with all stakeholders — customers, employees, partners, investors, and the community — to create efficient global ecosystems. For example, the Aequs manufacturing facilities in Belgaum, Karnataka and Houston, Texas are co-located with other companies in the supply chain to minimize logistics and supply chain inefficiencies. Aequs also actively pursues joint venture partnerships to offer its customers a broad range of capabilities. Current joint venture partners include Magellan Aerospace of Canada, Setforge and Aubert & Duval of France, and Saab Ab. Of Sweden.
Aequs currently has over 600 employees spread across Bangalore, Belgaum, and Houston. Customers include Airbus, UTAS, Eaton, Baker Hughes, and Bosch.
Says Aravind Melligeri, Chairman & CEO, Aequs: “QuEST Global covered three lines of business — engineering services, manufacturing, and SEZ. As the manufacturing business and the related SEZ business grew, it became clear that manufacturing has a culture that is distinctly different from engineering services. We attract different customers, employees, and investors. The new Aequs brand and identity for the manufacturing business recognizes this distinction and enables both businesses to grow to their full potential.”
QuEST Global Manufacturing (now Aequs) was started in 2006 as part of QuEST Global to focus on manufacturing opportunities. QuEST Global SEZ (now Aequs SEZ) was started in 2009 and is India’s first notified precision engineering SEZ. It is spread over 250 acres in Belgaum, Karnataka and currently hosts 10 fully functional units across 200,000 square feet of manufacturing floor space delivering over 400,000 manufacturing hours per year.
About Aequs
Aequs (pronounced a-cus) is a global manufacturing company. It specializes in precision machining, sheet metal fabrication, assembly, forging, and special processing for the aerospace, automotive, and oil & gas industries. The Aequs manufacturing facilities are located in Bangalore and Belgaum in India and Houston, Texas. For more information, visit http://www.aequs.com.

Mr.Aravind Melligeri, Chairman & CEO, Aequs (Left) shaking hands with Dr Klaus Richter, Executive Vice President – Procurement, Airbus Group (Right)
Airbus management committee member and head of procurement, Klaus Richter said “India is providing us very competitive offers. Our procurement is no longer because of offset obligations; it’s the free market at work,”. Several components for the A320 and A380 are manufactured at the Belgaum (Hattargi SEZ) facility.
Richter was in Belgaum on Wednesday for a function to mark the rebranding of Quest Global SEZ as Aequs, a 250-acre facility focused on aerospace component manufacturing and assembly.
Aequs, which has seen an investment of Rs 250 crore, is expanding rapidly. It has a machining facility, it has a surface treatment facility in a joint venture with Magellan Aerospace of Canada, it has a forging facility in a joint venture with two French companies, Albert & Duval and Setforge, and it has a joint venture with Saab Aerostructures for the manufacture and supply of aerostructure assemblies. Some 1,200 different parts are made in the SEZ.
Other than the SEZ there are other individual companies in Belgaum as well who are contributing to the aerospace industry enormously such as Servocontrols.

Councilors off to an unknown place to avert horse trading
Councilors off to an unknown place to avert horse trading
Councilors of both Kannada and Marathi groups have allegedly moved to different unkown places to avert any kind of poaching or horse trading in view of the Mayorl elections on March 10.
In the last 10 years, politicians have sent their supporters to this resort several times to prevent horse trading. It is a secure and safe resort where entry and exit is monitored strictly.
Currently the Marathi group under the leadership of Sambhaji Patil has a strength of 32 while the Kannada and Urdu councilors under the aegis of MLA Feroz Sait number 26.
This time in the elections sources have said that, Suresh Angadi, Ramesh Katti and Satish Jarkhiholi might not cast their vote keeping an eye on the voters as they dont want to hurt anyone group. However all the 3 MLAs from Belgaum would participate in the voting process.
Media has been banned from entry into the council hall on Monday and a separate press meet would be conducted after the results are declared.

Belgaum city corporation’s Facebook page taken down
Belgaum city corporation’s Facebook page taken down
In June 2012 in a surprise move the Belgaum city corporation opened its very own Facebook page[http://www.facebook.com/pages/Belgaum-City-Corporation/371488036247403]
This was done with the advent of the new commissioner Priyanka Francisa, where we thought we were moving towards a better citizen friendly avenues.
But as of today (March 10, 2014) the said page is missing. The page seems to have been removed.
The page was not responding to any queries made, hence its removal is no cause of worry to the citizens.
And as it had happened with the Traffic police page this too also has seen an early exit.
Pig menace worrying residents of ward no 15
Pig menace worrying residents of ward no 15
Pig menace has been causing concern among residents of several areas in Belgaum. And see this example from Ward No.15 in the city.
The increasing population of pigs has raised the fear of health risks among people. Several pigs can be seen on the streets of residential areas. Pigs roam in this area throughout the day, feeding on the garbage and lying in sewage. Citizens are living in such unhygienic conditions for quite sometime.
The pigs not only look scary, but they destroy all the plants and scour through the drainage on the road and make a mess of the entire area. If the residents chase them away, occasionally the pigs attack them and some can even bite. It is a huge nuisance.
The corporation should look at the issue and get rid of this menace.
